Handkerchief, informally known as hanky or hankie is a piece of material that one uses to wipe the hand or blow the nose etc. A handkerchief is traditionally white in colour. But handkerchief is also available in a variety of colours. Besides it functional use handkerchief is also used as an accessory and as a part of the suit which is a formal apparel worn by men. The handkerchief in this case is of the same colour as the tie that the wearer has worn with the suit.
Handkerchief is also a very essential piece of cloth when it comes to small children because children tend to feel to need to use the handkerchief more often then the adults. For adults it not the functional use that matters more but for the children it is the functional use of the handkerchief that counts.
Handkerchief is traditionally made of cotton but for a more luxurious feel silk is also used. It also comes in many different colours and sizes. The adults usually use the single colour handkerchiefs and the men usually go for the neutral colours. The women folk on the other hand usually use ones with prints of flowers etc and ones that are brighter. The children too love to use hanky that are bright and have bold prints on them.
Apron on the other hand is a garment worn over the dress that one is wearing to protect it from getting dirty or soiled. It can be worn while cooking, gardening or while doing any kind of work that might dirty the apparel that one is wearing. Apron too is a functional garment but that doesn’t mean that it has to be drab. It comes in many different colours with beautiful prints that make it very appealing.
For the heavy chores apron is made of the sturdy fabrics usually leather but for the household chores the fabric used is cotton. Aprons also have a number of pockets to make it more convenient to the wearer to carry the scissors and other items. Therefore apron is a garment that is more aligned to the functional side than the current trends though this does not mean that aprons are unfashionable and horrid to look at.
