Any kind of clothing designed to be worn for swimming is called swimwear. Swimsuits are designed both who want to cover as much of their bodies as possible and like wise reveal as much of it as possible. Swimwear is generally lined with fabric that does not make it transparent when wet.
The swim wear is basically designed to cover the private parts of the body because swimming is done in the public pools where there are other people around too. The first swimsuits for women, bikinis were introduced after WWII. These were very similar to the modern day bikini. The men’s swim suits were also developing fast with those of the women. The shorts that they used to wear earlier had started becoming smaller and smaller. Women’s swimsuits are both one piece and two piece suits.
String bikinis have also become very popular with the hesitation to bare becoming less and less and the swim wear also covers just the bare essentials. The most popular in men’s swimwear are board shots and Speedos. They also help the athletes in obtaining the advantage of speed. Swimwear is now a days a very popular form of display in the beauty pageants as well as in sports magazines where the sportsmen pose for the spread in swimwear. |
