Introduction
The word pendant means ‘hanging from something’. It can be used both as a noun and an adjective. For our purpose, pendant is a kind of necklace with a jewel, or a motif hangs from a simple chain. In jewelry parlance, the word pendant can be used to mean either the complete set consisting of the jewel/ motif and the chain, or the jewel/ motif alone.
Different Kinds of Pendants
Many jewelers sell pendants without the chain. This way the buyer can choose a separate chain that suits them. Some pendants of this variety are multipurpose- for example, some come with a pin back so the pendant can be worn as a brooch as well.
Single gemstones or crystals without much of a setting, that is with just one loop to attach it to the chain, look dramatic. Pendant watches made of different material keep returning to the fashion scenario periodically.
