The allopathy based medicine system has always tried to discredit alternative medical therapies by labeling them as quack practices and pseudo science. The breakthrough discoveries in medical science, surgical methods, molecular and cell biology, gene research, and stem cell research further emboldened its advocates who completely rejected alternative form of therapies. They attributed its allegedly curative potentials to just placebo effect, while projecting allopathic medical system as the only real and effective form for diseases and ailments
On the other hand, practitioners of alternative therapy strongly refuted these claims. They proclaimed that these therapies utilize man’s relation with his inner self, his fellow human beings and nature to make his life a joyous and happy experience while keeping it free of diseases and problems.
The principle charge leveled against alternative therapies is that they lack any scientific base or method to prove their theories. Scientists consider the concepts of healing by energy transfer and balance of energy as mere fancies. They assert that empirical evidences have suggested alternative therapies to nothing more than that a method of personal interaction between healer and the patient. Such interaction makes patients feel good where they can express their anxiety and get assurance in return. Alternative therapies, according to science, never touch the root cause of the problem.
However, despite the self pats given by mainstream medical system to itself, it remains the fact that it has some glaring failures and discrepancies that it has not been able to resolve so far.
Allopathic medicines are notorious for producing severe side effects that some times beat the purpose of treatment even. Further, modern medical science has been a complete failure before some of the serious ailments and almost all the chronic diseases. Gastric problems, Diabetes, and Asthma are some of diseases where mainstream medical system has no permanent cure. Cancer and AIDS are represent two more monsters that science is fighting since decades but without any positive result so far.
It is conclusively proved today that many forms of alternative therapies, if not all, are really effective in countering health issues beyond the scope of modern science.
Therapies such as hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, Ayurveda, naturopathy and holistic medicines have not only have healing and curative powers within them but they also orient the human body, mind and spirit in such ways that it acquires added immunity and capability to resist diseases and orient it with the natural system.
It is true that some types of alternative therapies are based on pseudo science and their empirical claims have not been verified. However based on few pseudo therapies the entire system of alternative therapies can not be nullified.
Ayurveda, Yoga, Holistic therapy and Hydrotherapy have forced scientific world to change their opinion and view the alternative therapies in completely new light. Yoga in particular has taken modern medical world by storm where it has found ardent support and endorsement.
Alternative therapies teach an alternate view about living. With their stress on harmony with nature, surrounding and encompassing over mind body and soul, they help to purify the body and mind from within. People learn to take a holistic approach and attain health happiness, and peace without subjecting their body to synthetic and external substances.
